Competent cells, Inoue method - help!

After reading the information on competent cells in this group's handy
FAQ, I have one quick question before I try the Inoue method: I have never
used PIPES, and was wondering if there was a specific version of PIPES
which works optimally for competent cells, or if any of the several
available formulations (free acid, disodium salt, sesquisodium salt, etc.)
would be fine as long as pH of the TB solution was 6.7 as stated in the
protocol?

Thanks,
Jeremy
