[Na] and Tm of oligos...

Possibly a dumb question but...  Why do melting point determination formulas 
include sodium ion concentration... and how, for my sodiumless PCR's and cycle 
sequencing reactions, do I try and predict Tm for my primers?  (There's no Na 
in my templates, and I don't add any Na2EDTA or anything else with Na in it...)

Puzzled...
