Nice try, John, but no banana. ssDNA ligation works with T4 *RNA*
ligase, not with T4 *DNA* ligase: see, eg, S. Kaluz et al.,
Biotechniques (1995), 19:182. Unfortunately, one has to infer that T4
DNA ligase works efficiently only on dsDNA-dsDNA joining.
