How many bases can be read with ALF-DNA-sequencers, who was good results with other automatic DNA-sequencers?

We have been sequencing about 50 kbp/year in my lab, most of them with
the ALF, and now we have changed to Perkin. The worst are the ALF-sequencers
from Pharmacia for a lot of different reasons.
Go for a Perkin-Elmer. No comparison at all.
