Eric, Are you assuming there is already salt in the DNA preparations?? Otherwise you will have to add salt to precipitate DNA or RNA no matter if you use ethanol or isopropanol.The only difference is that you can add less volume with isopropanol than of ethanol (equal volume versus 2-3 times volume of final sample.)
