There's an article on it in BRL Focus 14 (3) Summer 1992 which may or may 
not be relevant to Zoogen's current process. Apparently the technique 
described there uses a Southern blot to determine the abundance of a 
repetitive element unique to the avian female W chromosome. Perhaps PCR 
is used to nonspecifcaly amplify the small DNA sample submitted?
