Cloning tandem repeats

I am having trouble trying to subclone a 500 bp fragment of DNA
which includes 5, 50 bp repeats.  It is being subcloned into a
pAC plasmid by blunt ligation. Any ideas regarding techniques or
particular strains of E.coli ?  HB101 and DH5a have been unsucessful.
