E.coli cultures lysing after induction

I've encountered a similar problem while optimizing conditions for a
multi-periplasmic protease deficient strain. At 0.4% glucose the cells
were completely lysed 1 hour after addition of IPTG (giving something with
a texture reminiscent of bad hot and sour soup...). At 0.2% glucose they
were inducible for 4 hours without significant lysis.
So it might not be phage but something with your buffers...
