SSCP band smearing

Hi,

We are running for more then 3 years succesfully SSCP gels.
Since a few months we are dealing frequently with serious band smearing.
It lookes like there is a gradient in the gel. This effect is more severe on 
SSCP gels run at 8 degrees C then on those SSCP gels with a final 
concentration of 5% glycerol. Is there somebody who has experienced the same 
kind of troubels or has any clue of what is going on?
