Mitochondrial DNA cloning

I wish to clone a 1.5kb PCR fragment of the mitochondrial A+T rich region
using the TA cloning technique.  I have tried ligating it into the vectors
pGem-T and pBluescript, and into cells DH5alpha, JM109 and XL1-blue.  The
very few inserts I retrieve are all way too small. Can anyone please help
me with this?
