CSPD and blocking your blots

I'm using CSPD-plus with my BRL Photogene kit for nonrad detection on
Southern blots. The kit normally uses Lumiphos 530 but I ran out. CSPD is
also a substrate for SA-AP conjugate and so should work in place of
Lumiphos 530. I went through the procedure as normal and I saw my bands
but there was also high background. Any idea how I can correct this?

The normal blocking solution is 3 percent BSA in TBS-tween for 1 hr at 65
degrees. The Southern Light Kit from Tropix (where I got the CSPD comes
with something called I-block). In the original Photogene Kit protocol
there is a final 1 hr wash with their Final Wash Buffer but I don't know
what is in it except there is some formamide.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
