Introduction of stop codons

Hi!

I was thinking of introducing stop codons in the sequence of my protein,
instead of deleting different lenghts of the C-terminal part of this
protein (because I can perform site directed mutagenesis easily but I am
scared to spend too much time setting up the PCR conditions for the
deletions I want to make).

Did anybody try that?
Did it work or not? Is there no problem for transcription or translation
to occur?
