These "hapaxoterministic" enzymes sound like Type IIS restriction enzymes. I think "Type IIS" is a lot easier to say/spell/remember! I'm not sure who coined "Type IIS", but anyone interested in these enzymes should read Szybalksi et al.'s review in Gene 100 (1991):21-25.
