Problems with Qiagen maxipreps?

I haven't used Qiagen for years, so I can't comment on that, however, we
have gotten consistently excellent results using the LiCl/PEG method outlined
in Sambrook et al, p 1.40.  Using XL-2 host cells from Stratagene, we get huge
amounts of plasmid (2 - 4 mg) from 1 liter cultures.  I've used this for cell
transfections and sequencing without any problems.  Best part, it's real cheap!
