Recent mutator E. coli strains related to MutD phenotype?

I just wonder to know that the old MutD phenotype is included in the
newly advertised mutator strains of E coli (e.g. XL1 Red) or not .....
....or MutD and other markers together help to express this feature!?
So what is the genetic base of this phenotype?
I also looking for somebody who have any MutD strains (LE30 or other)
and could send a stab to me, I have already tried to fetch strains at
the ATCC but it was one way...
