CG-Repeats in Cycle Sequencing

When sequencing gc rich regions by cycle sequencing I got the remarkable
result that in a Sma I site (ccccgggg) the third "g" seemed to be an "a".

When I looked in the other strand I saw ccccggag and not as expected caccgggg.

Has anyone else recognized this problem and how did you overcome it?

Answers are very much appreciated.

Cheers
Lars
