You could just carry the cells. Autoclav a small patch of filter paper wrapped in foil/saran wrap etc. Take a LB/glycerol suspension of your cells and put a drop on your filter paper. Later when you want to grow them up, just rub the filter paper across a LB plate. Great way to send cells by mail too (maybe illegal ?) JK
