imaging gels

I'm in the process of buying an photo system for agarose gels (PCR,
genomic DNA, etc.).  Rather than using a Polaroid type system, I'd like
to get a camera to dump the images directly onto a computer to avoid any
film at all.  The images could be easily archived on CD, for example.  My
question to the group:  has anyone done this, and if so, can you
recommend a camera or provide specs to look for in cameras?  Thanks for
any help.
