Maria Sounds to me as though your phenol isn't saturated with buffer properly. Liver is just about the easiest tissue to make RNA from ! Brain is not bad either apart from high lipid. Why not just buyt a kit - it saves money in the long run. We use LifeTechnologies (BRL as was ) Trizol and it works every time. John
