If you get a cloudy interface with a milky top phase then after the centrifugation add an equal vol. of extraction buffer, mix and re-centrifuge. Sorry if this increases your vol. to precipitate but it works. If instead you have a very dense thick interface with a clear top phase, repeat the phenol extraction. Best Luck, Gordon.
