Books?

Could someone please direct me towards some intro reading and/or 
other sources of information on the methods of manipulating DNA. I'm trying 
to learn about the methods of amplification, extraction, detection, etc. I'm 
especially interested in the the conditions required for each operation such 
as temperature and medium and also the cost of materials and equipment. Again 
I'm new to this so information that has examples and detailed explanations 
will be the most helpful.
