Question re oligo synthesizers

I will require a large number of oligos in the near future and 
was wondering if it would be cost effective to buy an oligo synthesizer
and have someone make them onsite rather than having them made for us.  
If anyone has made such a decision and has some advice to pass on I would
greatly appreciate it. And if anyone has comments on choice of synthesizer (ie
why you prefer a certain model) I'd like to hear from you too.
