I wonder if anyone has ever used benzene sulphonic acid to fix DNA gels for silver staining. I've just come across this trick from Pharmacia's Phastgel dna silver stain kit manual. But, I am not sure I should use the free acid or its sodium salt?? Can anyone suggest a few references on this. I have tried the medline but of no avail !! Many thanks. Gene
