Hepatitis B viral genome exists in the viral particle as a partially
double stranded DNA. During its life cycle, the genome goes through an
intermediate stage in which it exists within an infected cell as
full-length RNA from which DNA is reverse transcribed in order to
ultimately generate the partially double-stranded DNA genome to be
packaged by the cell.
