What happens when you crosslink nucleic acid to nylon?

When crosslinking with UV what/where are the covalent bonds made?  With which 
part of the nucleic acid and nylon?

Also, I have assumed that when you crosslink RNA to a positively charged membrane 
by using NaOH you deprotonate the 2'hydroxy, the anion then acts as a nucleophile 
and it attacks a positive center in the nylon - would that be accurate?
