Silver staining for polyacrylamide gels

To everyone,
I have not been able to attain consistent results with J Heukeshoven and 
R Dernick simplified method for silver staining. The method is probably 
somewhat outdated (1985) and I am sure many researchers have modified 
the protocol. It would be extremely helpful to me to get some insights 
from someone who has had experince with this technique and has come up 
with a working protocol. I have myself changed some parameters and I 
would like to share information.
