EtBr light sensitivity

Dear colleagues,

I know there have been many discussions on the mutagenicity and
disposal of ethidium bromide (EtBr) in the last few years. Several
methods for the removal/disposal of EtBr have been described, but I
still have one question:
Since EtBr is light-sensitive, wouldn't it be sufficient to keep EtBr
waste in a white glass container on the window-shelf or near the
bactericidal UV-light for a couple of days (?weeks) and EtBr would get
degraded?
Another question: Is EtBr which gets destained (looses its red colour)
still mutagenic?

Thanks in advance for your replies.
