I recently used eLONGase (Life Tech) to amplify a highly GC-rich 5' untranslated region. I had no success with any brand of Taq even when using various percentages of formamide or DMSO. eLONGase is also considerably cheaper than GC-Advantage from Clontech. Best of luck Greg Nattrass
