Dear Johannes,

Yes, it is possible to recover proteins blotted to either PVDF or NC.
I do it quite often to obtain small amounts of highly purified proteins.
I've listed some references below. 

In general, one seems to get higher protein recoveries
from NC but often they are slightly contaminated with small amounts of
dissolved NC-one gets less recovery from PVDF but there is far less
caontamination from the membrane.
