Yes, it's the best way.   I cool my molten agar to 50 before adding the
Xgal and IPTG (and antibiotics), but I would expect them still to work
even if the agar is at up to about 70, SO LONG AS the plates are poured
immediately afterwards letting the agar rapidly cool.
