GST fusion polyclonal abs

I would like to make rabbit polyclonal antibodies to 
some recombinant proteins.  If I use a 
GST-fusion vector do I have to cleave off the GST?  
I have heard rumors that the GST helps with the immune 
response and that the background immunoreactivity is 
not something to worry about.  Any experience with this?  
Any favorite GST fusion vectors?

I have pGEX-2TK from Pharmacia, but I am worried about
including the heart muscle kinase site that is in this
vector.  I don't want antibodies to that site.
