5-FOA/2+3 hybrid

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is current, but the Genetics Society of America
(Bethesda, Md.) used to sell discounted 5-FOA to its menbers in bulk.  The
Sigma stuff works just fine, though. For some applications which would
otherwise be absurdly expensive (like removing a URA plasmid from 200 clones)
try growing twice in 1.5 ml liquid cultures, and use 500 microL of the second
culture to test for B-gal.  Works every time.
