call me a curmudgeon if you want but all these kits just make me
gag. i still purify my DNA using alkaline lysis and CsCl
gradients. with the new ultracentrifuges this can easily be completely
in less than one day.

at least this way i get a ton of DNA and don't have to worry about any 
contaminants.
