GFP construct in E.coli

Hi,

I am preparing a GFP-containing contruct under the 35-S promoter (for 
transient and stable transformation of Arabidopsis) which I understand 
works quite nicely in E.coli. My question is simply this : should I be 
able to visualise positive E.coli colonies by their green fluorescence? 
Ant tricks to enable this?
