I agree that it is best to add the ampicillin directly to the LB just before using from an Amp Stock. But to avoid mutiple freeze thaws, (even of your small alaquots), dissolve Amp at 1000X in 70% ETOH. This will not solidify at -20, and therefore never needs to be thawed/melted.
