Acid-Phenol Extraction of cccDNA

Hello, netters;

Searching for a method which would allow quick, inexpensive and simple
isolation of pure cccDNA (SV40-based plasmid in my case) I have found
an old paper from Felsenfeld's lab (Zasloff e.a, NAR 1978, 8(4), 1139)
with nice and elegant description of acid-phenol extraction. Seems
like it is just what I'd like to use, but... I cannot find anybody
using this method and that is strange. 

So, if you know of some caveats/problems/mysteries/etc regarding this
