How to use CTAB?

I use CTAB (hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide) for preparation of genomic
DNA from lactobacillus . According to Ausubel et al. Short protocols in
Molecular Biology (p2-10), this compound is used to remove polysaccharides
and other contaminanting macromolecules.
