Coomassie staining before electroblotting?

You can use SYPRO Red (from FMC) to stain your gel prior to transfer. 
The stain has no fixing step so it doesn't covalently bind to proteins. 
The stain also transfers (not that well) enough to see if your transfer
worked. Unfortunately, if you want to take a picture of your stained gel
you need yet another filter for the ol' camera.
