deoR-mutation - cell wall defect?

The E.coli strain DH10B has a cell wall defect, which might be due to
the deoR mutation. As far as I know, deoR encodes a repressor and I
never found out how it works and whether deoR is responsible for the
cell wall defect.
Does anyone have any infos about deoR?
