The Nature of SmaI

Hi Folks,
sometime ago I asked for some help with a problem cloning with SmaI.
Several replies said it was in the nature of SmaI to be tricky and made
some suggestions. The main one being that SmaI has an implisit nuclease
action and the use of XmaI avoids the problems altogether.
Does anyone know of a reference to illustrate the problems with SmaI
and/or the use of XmaI to avoid it ?

					Thanks a lot
