Question DNA isolation from seaweeds

Hello,
I have a question cosidering the isolation of DNA from marine
macro-algae (seeweeds). We are trying to isolate DNA from species like
Laminaria and Ascophyllum and are experiencing great difficulties in
obtaining pure digestable DNA. Has anybody out there some information,
experience or tips that might help us to achieve this goal. A method to
succesfull mRNA isolation would also be appreciated.
