transient transfection of RAW264.7 macrophages

I would like to perform promoter studies by transient transfection of
reporter plasmids. Unfortunately I was not able to see a ß-gal staining
after transient transfection of RAW 264.7 macrophages. I tried different
methods to transfect the cells (electroporation, CaPO4, DEAE-dextran,
lipid-mediated transfection), but all transfections gave no reproducible
or no results determined by ß-gal staining after transfection of a
CMV-ß-gal vector.
Can somebody help me? I don´t know what to do now. I have done promoter
studies in Jurkat and Burkitt lymphoma cell lines and the results were
reproducible and we found about 30 to 50 % transfection efficiency, but
the RAW 264.7 macrophages show no sign of transient transfection.
