I-125 BSA spill...help needed

There is one point that no-one has considered yet: where was the
technician while all of this was happening? Surely, it's part of a
research technician's job to make sure that proper lab protocol is being
followed, that all grad students have a proper understanding of the
materials they're using, and that the atmosphere in the lab is free enough
and friendly enough that the students can tell the technician if not the
supervisor when something goes wrong. Certainly, this is all part of my
job as a technician. Or have things got so bad in the USA that there are 
no technicians in university research labs?
