Genomic PCR

Has anybody had any success with the genomic PCR method published by C
Kilger and S Paabo in NAR 1997 25(10): 2032-2034 ? More specifically has
anyone been able to adapt it to sequencing unknown upstream or downstream
regions where a return primer sequence is not known?
