DNA freezer back-up

We are going to buy an Ultralow Freezer (-80C) for setting up
a plant DNA bank. One of the options is to get a CO2 backup
system but that would add stlg 1,000 to the cost. I have heard
stories that a CO2 backup is only of limited use in the event
of a power failure or may not be all that reliable in the
first place. Does anyone have any views or recommendations on
this?
