vacuum infilatration of plant tissue

Hello:

I am trying to fix plant buds by chemical fixation. I am having troubles
because the buds float in the fixative. I have tried to keep them in the
solution using a piece of mesh but am concerned that it takes a long
time to get the tissue into the fixative. Does anyone have a homemade
solution or a suggestion as to how solve this?
