ARGH! DNA contamination in RNA

I'm trying to run a northern, and in addition to the expected message
size, i saw a strong band WAY up there. We figured out that it was
probably genomic DNA contamination. Now what I want to know is: does
it matter, I.E. As long as I get a good signal for my target RNA, will
the DNA affect anything at all?

Thanks!
