RNA Isolation

Can I combine Sodium acetate, Citrate buffered phenol (pH 4.3) and
chloroform/isoamyal alcohol (24:1) and add the mixture to my
homogenized  tissues with GTC?
It would save me a few steps.  I'm familiar with Trizol (though maybe
not the spelling) but I have had success with this less expensive
multi-step method.
