Zeocin selection in tissue culture cells

We are having a problem selecting tissue culture cells using the Zeocin
antibiotic from Invitrogen. We think it's a problem with the salt in the
DMEM we are using (6.4g/l - Invitrogen recommend no more than 5g/l).
Does anyone out there have much experience with Zeocin? What type of
media (and from what supplier) are people using with Zeocin? Just out of
interest, does anyone know the mechanism of Zeocin inactivation by NaCl?
Thanks for any help that people can give.
