inhomogenous agarose-gel

Hi netters,

I´ve been doing agarose-gels for years (for southerns of genomic human 
dna), and now for the first time I ended up with a strange phenomenon:

in one part of the gel (.8% in TBE) the ladder is slanting and spaced 
unusually wide, while it is ok above and below this region. The same 
applies to the two or three adjacent lanes.

What have I done to cause this? Not mixed well enough before pouring?
